Brazilian Rubber

Sounds like hot stuff! The government of Brazil has begun producing local condoms from the Amazon’s rubber trees. But get this, not only will this enhance their condom distribution program by reducing dependence on imported contraceptives. At the same time, the initiative will help preserve the rainforest AND generate income for Amazon residents. Apparently, making rubber out of rubber trees does not necessitate destroying large areas of the rainforest. The full story here
